What is wax tape made of?

Microcrystalline waxes and corrosion inhibitors saturated into non-woven synthetic fabric. Primer consists of similar blend of material in a paste-like form.

What are the some of the uses for wax tape?

Wax tapes are commonly used for corrosion resistance for above and below ground piping, valves, bridge spans and transitions.

Is there any specific surface preparation needed for the wax tape?

Our wax tape requires minimal surface preparation. No sandblasting needed only hand or power tool cleaned is necessary.

How does the wax tape stop corrosion under insulation (CUI)?

Primers penetrate rust and displace moisture while the wax tape wrap seals off all elements, effectively stopping corrosion.

How soon can I backfill my piping?

There is no waiting or drying time, backfilling may be done immediately. Outer wraps are also available if the piping transition requires extra protection.

What is the lifecycle difference between painting and wax tape?

Wax tape systems have been used successfully for 20+ years. A typical 2 coat paint system will last 8-12 years in an industrial environment.

Could my maintenance personnel be trained to stop corrosion on our process piping?

Yes, training is available to maintenance personnel and third party contractors.

Do you offer lunch and learn seminars for engineering or maintenance?

We have a series of topics available such as; vibration damping grout, corrosion, CUI (corrosion under insulation) and thermal insulation, just to name a few. Our lunch and learns typically last an hour and a half with lunch provided.
